5:19 pm
many of us coming away with between one to two inches today. but to put that in perspective, many areas, especially in southeastern new hampshire, need a foot or more of rainfall. so, yes, this helps, but we need a lot more than what we received today and over the past couple of weeks here. in terms of trick or treating, lots of communities have their trick or treating going on this weekend on different days. so tomorrow on saturday there's a small chance a s 50's depending on where you are. on sunday, some passing clouds should be dry, and then on monday for halloween itself, should be dry, and temperatures in the upper 40's, low 50's. so looking good at least for trick or treat times. now the weekend does feature the chance for a couple of showers, more of this wet weather. here's mike now with more on the forecast. mike: lowell, yes, beneficial rain with the one to two inch tally across new hampshire and a
5:20 pm
beneficial rain that we did pick up especially from concord and points south and east to the coast. portsmouth coming in with 2.19 inches of rain so far. we may add just a couple ticks more to this number getting up to maybe two and a quarter by the time the storm pulls away. concord just under two inches of rain. rochester at over an inch and three quarters, just over an inch and a half in a laconia. in the form of snow, but you had to get not only up north, but at higher elevations. pittsburg, can't get much part north than that and you see the snow we had earlier in the week has washed away. so you had to get up to mount washington and higher summits of the presidential range to get in on the steady snow, over a foot so far over 6,000 feet up atop mount washington. before the rain moved in to
5:21 pm
between one and four inches of snow before that washed away. right now linger, rain and snow in the heart of the white mountains, scattered rain showers on south, but that will tend to move out soon. we will look for a dry trend to move in after about 8:00 or 9:0. farther to the north, showers in the form of rain and snow could linger through nine or 10 and then gradual clearing will take place late this evening. but more c northern part of the great lakes will swing on in here for tomorrow. most of the shower chances will line up in northern new hampshire, but we could see a couple scattered about in central areas, and a slight chance south. notice how chilly it is and we've got the gusty wind to boot, 30 to 35 miles per hour. overnight tonight we're in the 30's, but notice it is warmer back around cleveland, through the great lakes in the 50's, and that takes over for the weekend,
5:22 pm
through for the weekend. you notice the best shower chance tomorrow, clearly in northern new hampshire. so a little bit unsettled for your saturday. mainly from the notches north. slight chance of a shower south. some sun on sunday, a slight chance a shower south, and you notice on halloween we're up near 54, dry, nice for trick or treaters and then 60 plus by wednesday and thursday. josh: all right, easing into it. so we'll find out where new hampshire's u.s. senate candidat federal funds for aboxer, next. >> and we're just hours away from a major change to the way tolls are clerked on the mass. pike, why that could mean you'll

undermine women's access to mammograms. and i have fought to stop those effort because i think preventative care is very important. >> federal law already prevents taxpayer money from paying for abortions, except in very, very rare circumstances. i will always stand up for a woman's right to make her own health care decisions. what i oppose are efforts to overturn roe v. wade, to defund planned parenthood or otherwise to make her own health care decisions and control her own destiny. i will always fight for a woman's right to access safe and affordable health care. josh: coming up at 5:30 we'll hear from the candidates for governor about their plans to repair the state's infrastructure. jean: also ahead, the charges a man is facing after police in newton say he slashed a house

infrastructure. here are the answers. >> i know from my time at stoney field that a strong infrastructure is critical for a strong business. i was a business manager there, i was responsible for $100 million a year worth of our business, and the truth is that having, we had trucks shipping out of that plant every day, we also learned that when you send yog awrt cross the country by rail instead of truck you can get a much lower cost per gallon, you're spending less improving infrastructure and keeping our state moving forward. we've started to make some gains. this year we'll pay more miles of state roads -- pave and resurface more miles than we have in 25 years. that's a good thing, it's the right track. we also need to get i-93 expansion done. we need to bring passenger rail from boston to nashua, to the airport and mill yard. i put forward a specific financing plan for how to pay for that. most of it we actually can get federal funds that we've already sent to washington back to put
5:35 pm
paid, our own tax dollars that need to be working for us mere in our home state. that's how we'll make progress. >> again it's about priority, we have about 2,000 miles of poor to very poor conditioned roads. we have 153 red listed bridges, some of them, this is one of the highest numbers in the country of red listed bridges. these are where our priorities need to g. we haven't finished 93, we haven't fnged the sarah long bridge. so we need to take care projects first and foremost. there are other projects that are important to be sure, we've looked at increasing, addressing the turnpike system. we talk about renewable energy, and school building. these, or making sure our transmission infrastructure is where it needs to be, again to help lower our costs to the individual businesses and homeowners within the states. so infrastructure is absolutely critical in pay small state like new hampshire, a state that's centralized to the new england
